Sidekick textsidekick.com

YC S26. AI agent for frontline workers: text a question, get an answer from your company's SOPs. No app, no login. Real product, thin everything else.
As a company
5.5/10WEAK
Real YC company with a shipped product and a genuine wedge (hourly workers won't install apps; SMS meets them where they are). But the whole traction story is self-claimed, the only named site is the founder's father's plant, and better-funded rivals already own SMS-for-frontline. Wrapper-shaped, with two sales hires made pre-product-market-fit on a $500K budget.
Daxos fit
3.5/10WEAK
Wrong shape for us: crowded lane, no moat, TCPA and safety-answer liability, and demo-day pricing will be rich for a solo 23-year-old first-timer. Not Mark's domain. The one Daxos-style angle (contrarian, early, app-free wedge) is already someone else's funded product. Pass; look again if the plant count verifies and terms stay sane.

What it is

Workers text a Sidekick number (SMS, photos, voice memos) and an LLM answers from the company's uploaded docs: SOPs, safety manuals, handbooks, in the worker's language. When it can't answer, it texts the manager and learns from the reply. Site also claims work orders, SMS training with quizzes, and asset management (site-only, unverified). Demo-led sales, no public pricing, no self-serve. Entity: Sidekick AI Inc., SF; immature legal docs (no governing law, no arbitration); SOC 2 "in progress." No stack disclosed; shape is RAG + LLM behind an SMS gateway.

Funding

$500K pre-seed, one round, sole investor Y Combinator (Harmonic, source of record). YC S26 verified on the YC directory. No other investors named anywhere; an F4 Fund listing exists but is unconfirmed as an investment.

Team

  • Justin So (solo founder/CEO, ~23): UPenn CS master's ("2026-2026"), 6 months as an Arm finance analyst; his only job ever, and it overlapped the founding. Third-generation manufacturing family (self-reported). Real founder-market story, zero professional track record.
  • Sole engineer is a Cornell hotel administration major (CS self-reported). Head of Growth + SDR both hired mid-batch, pre-PMF: aggressive burn on $500K.
  • Team count conflicts: YC says 1, Harmonic 3, LinkedIn 4, and f4.fund names a co-founder/CTO nobody else lists. Founder question.

Traction

  • Shipped and live, deliberately app-free (no iOS/Android by design). Demo-gated; no company can activate without a call.
  • "20+ plants, 600+ workers" is self-claimed only. The one named facility is EDS Manufacturing: the founder's father's plant.
  • No press, no Product Hunt, no HN, 5 upvotes on the YC launch, LinkedIn flat (~796). No ARR figure anywhere. ~9,571 site visits/mo.

Key risks

The counter

Incumbents are app-based (hourly workers don't install) or comms-first, not answers-first. Photo/voice ingestion plus the manager-escalation loop is real product insight from inside a plant. At pre-seed you underwrite the founder and wedge velocity, not today's moat; if "20+ plants" verifies beyond the family network, the velocity read changes.

Bottom line: Pass at demo-day terms. Real company, real wedge, unverified traction, taken market. Revisit only if: the plant list verifies with named non-family customers, a real engineering hire lands, and the round prices at or under a ~$15M cap.
